Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the data we need to operate the Service.

From your account / sign-in:

• Identity and profile data — such as your user ID, username, display name or avatar, and the email address associated with your account or third-party sign-in.
• Authentication data — granted under the scopes you approve at sign-in. If you sign in through a third-party provider, we do not see your password for that provider.
• Entitlement data — your subscription tier and any community membership used to determine which features you can access.

Automatically collected:

• Technical data — browser type, device type, operating system, IP address, and similar non-identifying signals used to run the site and prevent abuse.
• Usage data — pages visited, features used, search queries, and aggregate interaction patterns used to improve the product.
• Approximate location — we may derive an approximate city/region from your IP address to surface nearby store inventory and offers.

Information you provide:

• ZIP code — if you enter one to find nearby stores, deals, or free-food offers.
• Full address and location data — if you enter a location to find nearby stores, we use and save your street address, optional unit or apartment number, city, state, ZIP code, Google Place ID, and exact latitude and longitude with your account. We use this information to rank nearby stores, then display their available inventory for you.
• Saved deals, watchlists, monitors, reports — the items, stores, and search criteria you choose to track inside the app.
• Preferences — settings such as auto-deal filters, language, streamer mode, and UI options.
• Browser precise location — only if you explicitly grant browser permission through a site feature (for example, “Use My Precise Location”).

2. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate your session and tie it to your account identity.
• To determine which features you have access to based on your subscription tier and any community membership.
• To deliver core functionality: deal feeds, penny detection, monitoring, watchlists, saved lists, free-food offers, reports, store lookups, and search.
• To send transactional notifications related to your watchlist, monitored items, free-food alerts, or account.
• To process subscription payments through our payment provider.
• To analyze usage, detect abuse, prevent scraping or automated misuse, and improve the product.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your email for advertising targeting and do not share it with advertisers.

3. Data Storage and Retention

Your account identity, entitlements, saved deals, monitored items, reports, preferences, and saved address and location data are stored in our backend infrastructure (hosted with U.S. cloud providers) and linked to your account ID.

Anonymous browser data such as splash-screen state, UI preferences, the penny disclaimer acceptance flag, and certain feature flags are stored in your browser's localStorage.

During address-first onboarding, before account activation, Google Maps receives your address query and our location service receives the address details and coordinates needed to choose nearby preview stores. We temporarily keep your full street address, optional unit or apartment number, city, state, ZIP code, Google Place ID, exact latitude and longitude, and selected nearby stores in localStorage. The record is eligible for use for up to two hours, is uploaded to your account after successful activation, and is removed after a successful save, an account or email mismatch, an abandoned preview, or the next time the app reads an expired record.

We retain account-linked data indefinitely by default, including after your Scavenger AI access ends or you stop using the Service. Losing entitlement or revoking a third-party sign-in does not automatically delete your stored data. If you want your account-linked data removed, you must submit a deletion request (see Section 5). Limited records may be retained even after a deletion request where required for tax, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes.

4. Communications and Alerts

Scavenger AI may send you in-app or email notifications related to features you have explicitly opted into, such as watchlist alerts, monitored-item price changes, free-food alerts, and high-priority penny notifications.

• You can disable alerts at any time from within the app settings.
• We do not send unsolicited marketing or promotional email. The only communications you receive are those tied to your account or alerts you have enabled.
• Service announcements and community updates are typically posted through the Scavenger AI community rather than emailed.

5. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Scavenger AI account at any time.

• In the app: sign out and, if you signed in through a third-party provider, revoke Scavenger AI's access from that provider's authorized-apps settings. This cuts off our ability to read your third-party data.
• Full data deletion: contact the Scavenger AI support team at support@scavenger.ai or through the official Scavenger AI community and request account deletion. We will remove your account-linked data from our active systems.

Revoking third-party access does not by itself purge data already stored on our side — you must request deletion to fully remove it.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

Scavenger AI uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality:

• Authentication cookies — required to keep you signed in. Without them you cannot use the Service.
• Preference cookies and localStorage — remember UI choices, splash-screen state, and similar non-sensitive settings. During pre-activation address onboarding, localStorage also temporarily holds your full address, optional unit, Google Place ID, coordinates, and selected nearby stores. The record is eligible for two hours, is uploaded after successful activation, and is removed on save, mismatch, abandonment, or the next app read after expiry.
• Service worker storage — we may register a service worker to provide offline resilience and faster loads. You can clear it from your browser's site-data controls.

You may block or clear cookies and localStorage through your browser settings, but doing so may prevent Scavenger AI from working correctly.

7. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of third-party providers to run Scavenger AI. Each acts as a processor or service provider under our direction.

Authentication and identity

Sign-in and basic profile data may be handled through a third-party provider (such as Google or Discord). Your interactions with that provider are governed by its own privacy policy.

Payment processing

Subscription payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not store full card numbers. The provider's handling of your payment data is governed by its own privacy policy.

Google Maps address services

When you use address suggestions or ask us to verify an address, your address query is sent to Google Maps Platform for address autocomplete and geocoding. Google returns address details, a Google Place ID, and geographic coordinates. Before activation, we send the resulting address details and coordinates to our location service to choose nearby preview stores; after store selection, we display available inventory. After successful account activation, the location data described in Section 1 is saved with your account. Google's handling of address queries is governed by its own privacy policy.

Affiliate links

Certain outbound product links are monetized through affiliate programs, and we may earn a commission when you click a link or make a qualifying purchase. When you click an affiliate link, the affiliate partner may collect data such as IP address, device type, click timestamp, and referral information to attribute commissions. This data collection is governed by the affiliate partner's own privacy policy. Affiliate commissions are paid by the retailer or affiliate partner at no additional cost to you. Your account identity is never shared with affiliate partners.

Retail and offer data

Scavenger AI queries publicly available retailer pricing, inventory, store, and offer data to power its features. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any retailer unless explicitly stated.

8. Your Privacy Rights (U.S. Residents)

Depending on your state of residence — including under laws such as the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Virginia CDPA, Colorado CPA, and similar statutes — you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain data uses.

• We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
• We do share limited data with service providers (payment processor, affiliate networks, infrastructure) strictly to operate the Service.
• You may exercise any of these rights by contacting Scavenger AI support at support@scavenger.ai or through the official Scavenger AI community. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

9. Children's Privacy

Scavenger AI is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, post a notice in-app or through the Scavenger AI community. Continued use of Scavenger AI after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
